Traders from different districts in Acholi sub region and neighbouring Lango on Thursday rushed to Anaka Town Council in Nwoya district for the Market Day -three days before the official resumption of mobile markets.
Jane Ruth Aceng, the Minister of Health on 9th November 2020 announced that the Government was allowing mobile markets, cinemas, casinos, gyms, massage parlors, political rallies and mass gatherings of 200 people effective Saturday November 14, 2020.
However, several impatient traders on Thursday took their merchandise to Anaka Town Council for the market day with nearly everyone ignoring covid-19 preventive measures like wearing face masks, handwashing and social distancing.
When asked for a comment, Okema Denis, the L.C111 Chairperson Anaka town council told Mega Fm that the mobile market was not authorized to reopen on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Nwoya Resident District Commissioner, Akello Agnes Ebong who is also the Corona Virus Task Force Chairperson threatened to arrest traders who will continue to defy the directives.
