Thousands Of Pupils, Students Missed Self-Help Learning Materials
Unspecified number of pupils and students in Acholi sub region have missed self-help learning materials for primary and secondary school learners being given out by the Education Ministry during the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown.
29,000 pupils and students missed in Amuru district while over 370,000 missed in Lamwo district.
Amuru district has a total population of 55,000 pupils and students while Lamwo education has 52,149 learners in Primary schools and 6,845 learners in six government aided Secondary Schools.
Last week, Amuru received 26,000 copies which were distributed to students and pupils in Atiak Sub County and parts of Pabbo Sub County and Amuru Town Council while Lamwo district received 8,163 copies for primary school learners and 261 copies for A-Level learners.
Joyce Lanyero, the Amuru District Education Officer says that the most affected are Primary five –Primary Seven pupils and secondary schools students from senior one to senior six.
Lamwo district education department is now hunting for over Shillings 45 million to photocopy additional self-help learning materials for primary and secondary school learners.
The Education and Sports Ministry in collaboration with the National Curriculum Development Centre developed self-study materials for nationwide distribution to learners because of the Covid19 lock down.
