Tanzanian Truck Driver Tests Positive for COVID -19
Uganda Authorities are searching for a Tanzanian Truck driver who tested positive for Covid-19.
This sample was among the results of the 1120 people among which are 376 of those under institutional quarantine that were tested by Uganda Virus Research Institute yesterday.
According to Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Director General of Health services, once the 34-year-old Tanzanian driver from Dar Salaam who entered the country through Mutukula border post on Thursday is finally got he will be immediately returned home.
He says the positive case therefore doesn’t add to the current number infections in the country which still stand at 55 people.
In Tanzania, however, the infections are spiraling where in only one-day yesterday, they recorded 53 new cases bringing their total number of patients to 147.
And, while Uganda hasn’t yet recorded any death yet, the neighboring country has recorded five deaths.
However, earlier yesterday, the Ministry of Health had initially reported that the case that tested positive had been picked from the community, something that Mwebesa clarifies to have been done in error.
