Starving Omoro Teachers Get Food Relief

Although it’s a temporary reprieve, 200 teachers who were being paid by the parents in several primary schools in Omoro district, have been supported with food relief, thanks to Hope Is Education, a non-governmental organization operating in the district.

Each went home with 10 kilograms of maize flour and 5 kilograms of beans.

Teachers and other workers in some educational institutions have reportedly gone without receiving their due salaries while several institutions had resorted to paying them lesser percentages with others completely suspended since the closer of learning institutions due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in March, 2020. Up to 15 million learners are currently stuck at home as a result of the closures.
