Six Huts Burnt in Attack Against LC Chairperson in Amuru

Ray Okwera, the Ayilla village Chairperson in Guruguru Sub-County, Amuru District was last evening attacked by an irate mob that burnt six grass-thatched houses in suspected inter-clan vengeance.

Okwera identified the attackers as Patrick Odongtoo, Justine Ocen and Richard Okumu from the rival Pamuca clan. They were armed with machetes, spears, bows and arrows before looting livestock and vandalizing household properties.

It is alleged that the Pamuca clan has been rivalling their neighbouring Pailyec clan following allegations of murder of a member of their clan that reportedly happened in July. The case was reported to police under reference file DEF: 07/2020.

Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident saying the assistants scattered in disarray after police stormed the crime scene.

According to Okema, they discovered a dead goat at the scene of the crime and have maintained deployment around the Chairman’s home to avert further attacks and the hunt for the culprits continue to bring them to books.
