In less than 48 hours, a second person has died after ramming into a stationery vehicle along Gulu-Kitgum road.
37-year old Geoffrey Oringa died on the spot at around 8:50pm on Monday evening after ramming into a Fuso Lorry parked at Teya-Padola in Paicho Sub County, Gulu District.
The resident of Dwere village was riding motorcycle registration number UEH 483Z Bajaj when he rammed into vehicle registration number UBA 372G.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police spokesperson said the body was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
He said the driver of the vehicle,37-year old Francis Okema, a resident of Obiya west in Bar-dege-Layibi Division in Gulu City has been arrested.
Okema said they are consulting with the Resident State Attorney on the charges to be preferred against the driver.
On Sunday, a 28-year old cyclist identified as Emmanuel Ocaka, a resident of Pabit village, Unyama Sub County also died after ramming into a stationery vehicle at Pida village along Gulu-Kitgum road.
This now brings to 7 the number of people killed in road accidents in less than two weeks in Aswa River Region.
