Private Clinic Closed In Kitgum After Eight Staff Test Positive For COVID-19


A private maternity clinic in Kitgum Municipality was today closed after eight of its staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The eight staffs of Maternity home located in Central Division had contact with a COVID-19 patient who visited the facility for medical assistance.

William Komakech, the Kitgum RDC and chairperson Kitgum district COVID-19 task force said other staff and their family members have been quarantined while contact tracing is being done for people who came in contact with the staff.

In a related development, the Apollo ground cell in central division Kitgum municipality is under lock down after eight other cases where confirmed from there, while medical staffs at Kitgum General Hospital Laboratory are to be put under quarantine after one of the laboratory staff tested positive for the COVID-19.

Komakech said efforts were underway to evacuate the 17 patients to Gulu Regional Referral hospital for treatment.

Uganda have so far confirmed 1750 cases of COVID-19 with 19 deaths as of Friday.
