Police Canine Unit with the help of sniffer dogs tracked down and arrested 8,154 criminals in 2021, according to the latest crime statistics.
The suspects include 5,265 adults and 527 juveniles.
Some of the suspects arrested by the canine unit were drug smugglers and terrorists.
Majority of the drug dealers were arrested from Entebbe International Airport carrying banned substances.
Police say 1,115 convictions were secured after the suspects were arraigned in court and charged while over 4,000 of the cases were still pending.
