Patient Cured of Covid-19 To Return To An Empty Home
One of the 34 people discharged on Thursday from Gulu Regional Referral Hospital after being cured of COVID-19 is returning to an empty house after unknown thugs broke into it and made off with his property.
The man, a truck driver who hails from Luweero district tested positive for COVID-19 on May 13, 2020 from Elegu border point before being admitted at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.
He said his home in Luweero was left unattended as his family members were also taken into quarantine adding that his home was exposed on the media which made it a target for thugs.
Joyce Moriku Kaducu, the State Minister for Primary Health Care who officiated at the discharge of the 34 patients asked the Gulu Resident District Commissioner and his Luweero counterpart to handle the matter.
Meanwhile, 26 of the patients discharged today are Ugandans while eight are foreign nationals.
Dr.Paska Apiyo, the hospital case management head advised the patients to adhere to the guidelines to prevent reinfection like wearing of facemasks among others and also report to hospital in case of abnormal changes.
22 more patients out of the remaining 31 patients are set to be discharged soon if their results turn out negative.
