The acting Pader District Community Development Officer (DCDO) has been arrested on allegation of stealing food aid meant for households affected by Nodding Syndrome.
Festo Okidi was picked on Friday afternoon following reports that 12 bags of maize meal (posho) each weighing 10 kilograms went missing under mysterious circumstances.
The donation to the affected households in Bolo Agweng parish in Awere Sub County was to be channeled through Kope Foundation, a local NGO working with vulnerable children.
The decision to support the families with 147 bags of maize meal follows a resolution by the Pader District COVID-19 Taskforce.
According to Dr Alex Layoo, the Pader District Health Officer (DHO), Okidi was assigned to oversee how the donation will be distributed.
However he said when the 147 bags of posho were delivered to the beneficiaries, 12 bags were reportedly missing, raising a lot of suspicion.
Tom Bainomugisha, the Pader District Police Commander (DPC) said Okidi was arrested to help police in their investigations into the allegations of theft of food items.
