Omoro Woman Dies After Husband Doused Her In Petrol
A 35-year old woman identified as Vicky Akongo died on Tuesday morning at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor after she was severely burnt when her ex-lover poured petrol on her and set her ablaze last evening.
Joe Ocan Acellam, Akongo’s ex-lover reportedly poured petrol on her and her house before setting the house on fire at around 7:30pm in Kal B village, Koro Sub County in Omoro district.
Jimmy Odoch Okoya, the woman’s husband said they managed to pull Akongo out of the house after seeing it on fire while Acellam fled but was later arrested at Labora. Odoch said that his wife suffered serious burns on her body.
Justin Odong Obiya, the L.C 111 Chairperson Koro Sub County said the Ex-lover who is a resident of Lacekocot in Atanga Sub county Pader district had separated with Akongo over a year ago over constant misunderstandings but that he kept on following her.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region police spokesperson confirmed the incident and said investigations are being done.
Similar incidents also happened in Akonyi-bedo village, Unyama Sub County, Gulu district and in Ogwari village, Odek Sub County, Omoro district on New year respectively. Both women escaped unhurt.
