Omoro: woman detained over witchcraft
A woman who has confessed to practising witchcraft was on Tuesday detained at Ongako police outpost in Omoro district after she vowed to kill two people including her mother in law.
30-year old Doreen Aber, a resident of Guna village in Abwoch parish is said to have vowed to eliminate her mother in law and the mother to her co-wife for failing her marriage to one Joel Opio aged 20.
David Nyeko, the L.C 1 chairperson of Guna village said Aber was found in possession of soil she had scooped from the two women’s footmarks.
Nyeko said that Aber who has appeared before him for the 5th time over witchcraft offences is also suspected to be behind the death of her former lover and causing her sister to go mad.
Attempts to get a comment from police at Ongako were futile as the in-charge was away for training.
At least five women have been banished in Koro Sub County, Omoro district for engaging in witchcraft since the beginning of the year.
