The officer in charge-OC Opit Police Post in Omoro district is in detention for alleged shooting to death of a 16-year old boy and injuring another at Opit Central Ward in Omoro Town Council.
Sergeant Christopher Okot, is accused of shooting dead Olanya Emmanuel and injuring Okema Simon aged 25, all residents of Omolo Cell in Omoro Town Council.
It’s alleged that the deceased and other revelers were returning from disco at Corner House within Opit Town Council near Twilight fuel station when a fight erupted over unidentified girl at about 5:30 am this morning.
According to reports, the OC Okot sighted the rowdy crowd and tried to disperse them but met resistance prompting him to discharge bullets that killed the victim and injured another.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police spokesperson said police responded and recovered two cartridges, a gun UG POL. 56-131002705-16007 with 24bullets.
According to Mudong, the officer in charge Okot was arrested and detained while both deceased and the victim were taken to Gulu Regional Referral hospital for a postmortem and treatment respectively.
Mudong condemned the officer’s act and assured the affected families that justice would prevail.
