A man has been arrested by police in Nwoya district for murdering his neighbour over yet unclear reasons.
Opoka David Lanyang, a resident of Gony cogo village in Lii Sub County, Nwoya district was arrested on Wednesday for the killing of Joseph Akena aged 48.
It’s alleged that the deceased Akena disappeared from his home on November 9, 2021 until November 16th when the suspect reported to other neighbours that Akena had committed suicide.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region police spokesperson says police arrested Opoka as a key suspect.
He said that the suspect’s dog was also found dead in the deceased’s compound.
Mudong added that Akena’s body has been retrieved pending postmortem to ascertain the cause of death.
A creeping plant was found tied around Akena’s neck and his body tied to a tree branch.
A poisonous chemical wrapped in a white polythene paper was also found in the deceased’s jacket placed next to the body.
