Museveni Commissions Air Force Pilots At Gulu Airbase
President Yoweri Museveni and Commander-in-Chief of Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) on Tuesday evening commissioned 18 Air force pilots who have been undergoing a four year training course at the Gulu airbase.
The President congratulated the pilots for endeavoring to finish the course.
He asked the Air force cadets to live a healthy life, be devoted and patriotic while serving the people of Uganda.
The President promised to upgrade Gulu airport to international standards and all roads leading to the airport to bitumen level to boost trade and tourism.
He said the upgrade of Gulu airport to international standards shall boost trade because farmers shall be able to export goods directly to outside world.
During the ceremony, the president also commissioned an Airport Ground Navigation Systems.
In 2016, a total of 34 cadets comprising of 25 Air force pilots and air force craft technicians were also passed out after a four-year course at the Gulu airbase.
