Mps Olanya, Odonga Otto Released On Bond


The Aruu county Member of Parliament Odonga Otto and his counterpart of Kilak county Gilbert Olanya were today released on bond after spending a night behind bars at Gulu central police station charged with inciting violence and negligence act intended to cause the spread of infection contrary to section 83 and section 171 of the penal code act respectively.

The two and Kelly Komakech, the LCIII chairperson Pece division in Gulu Municipality and a lady identified as Stela Kijange from Nwoya district were picked on Monday from Cereleno market on Gulu-Kampala highway allegedly while protesting the continued admission of Covid-19 patients at Gulu regional referral hospital and the government decision to allow truck drivers to continue plying Gulu-Juba highway which they claim is putting lives of the local community at risk of contracting the deadly Covid-19.

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa river region, police spokesperson told Journalists that the suspects are expected to report back to police on June, 15, 2020.
