Man loses land to a local saving group
A 56-year old man over the weekend lost his 2 acres of land to a village saving and loan association-VSLA over unpaid loan amounting to 540,000 shillings.
Charles Okongo of Olinga village in Pabbo Sub-county, Amuru district is said to have borrowed the money from Apaka youth VSLA group at the beginning of this year.
The group chairperson, Akwero Margaret told Mega FM that Okongo failed to pay back the money within the given period of time and has since been in hiding.
Okongo who had also hidden the majority of his property was sighted on Saturday by group members who forced him to give up his land to clear his debt.
The group members also forced him to produce his other properties before taking from him 3 goats, 1 mattress, 9 chicken and 3 basins of beans among other items.
The group shared their savings on Saturday.
