Lightning Strike Injures Five People in Lamwo


Four people were on Tuesday injured after they were struck by lightning in Padibe Town council, Lamwo district.

The injured include Doreen Oryem, the wife of the former diocesan secretary Kitgum diocese, the late Rev. Canon Lamton Oryem, Florence Adoch, Amos Okeny, Christine Lamunu, and one unidentified minor.

According to reports, the victims were all seated outside at their compound when lightening hit them at around 4 pm as it was about to start raining.

Rashid Otugu, the Mura Parish councilor says the lightning first struck a radio receiver that one of the victims was holding, sending jolts at others.

The incident happened the same day when the thunderbolt claimed the life of one person and injured five others severely in Orom sub county, Kitgum district.
