Lightening Kills Three In Gulu, Pader Districts


At least three people were on Sunday evening killed by lightning in two separate incidences in Gulu and Pader districts.

They include a 10-year old child was struck dead by lightning which left two others injured in Rwot Obilo village, Owoo Sub County in Gulu district.

The deceased has been identified as Ferdinand Omara while the injured are 7-year old Junior Okwera and 4-year old Edimon Oloya.

The trio who are cousins were reportedly inside their grandfather Romano Okuto’s hut when the lightning struck as it was raining at around 5:00pm.

The other incident involved a mother and her daughter who were truck dead in their grass thatched hut in Orotwilo village, Pajule Sub County, Pader district.

The deceased have been identified as Acola Susan, aged 21, and her one year old daughter identified only as Laker.

They bodies were burnt beyond recognition, according Okello Tito Brilliant, the local council three chairperson Pajule sub county.

Meanwhile, a teacher of Pece Primary school in Gulu Municipality was left unconscious after being struck by lightning yesterday.

Stella Adokorach who is nine months pregnant was knitting in her sitting room when she was hit by the lightning at around 4-5pm during a drizzle.
