Kitgum: Unidentified man lynched


A suspected thief was last night lynched by an angry mob in Pajimo Central village, Akwang Sub County in Kitgum district.

The unidentified man suspected to be 20-years old was lynched at around 11; 00 pm for stealing a motorcycle Registration Number UEJ 542T belonging to one Patrick Tabu, a resident of Pajimo trading Centre Akwang Sub-county .

Jimmy Patrick Okema the Aswa river region police spokesperson said their officers visited the scene of crime and the body was taken to Kitgum General Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem.

Okema said the motorcycle has since been recovered.

He said a case of murder was registered at Akwang police station but that no suspect has yet been arrested.

Meanwhile, 14 people were on Independence Day (yesterday) arrested in Gulu for committing various crimes.

Nyankol John Bosco, the O.C station Gulu said 11 of them were arrested for assault, two for burglary and one for simple robbery.
