Kitgum RDC Undresses Youths Donning Replica of military Attires
William Komakech, the Kitgum Resident District Commissioner has launched an operation to undress any person found donning a replica of military or police attire.
On Sunday, the RDC undressed a youth at Orom trading center Orom sub county Kitgum district who was found donning a replica of military attire.
Three others were undressed along Orom-Namokora road.
The confiscated military attires include caps, trousers, jackets and T-shirts among others. Komakech says the confiscated attires will be burnt.
In December 2018, the former RDC Christopher Omara ordered all shop owners selling such clothes to voluntarily hand them over to police.
In 2018, Uganda Police banned the wearing of the replica of military or police attire with the famous camouflage print.
In a message to the Director in charge of Operations in the Uganda Police Force AIGP Asuman Mugenyi, all Regional Police Commanders, District Police Commanders, Officers in Charge of Police Stations and all unit commanders have been urged to step up against civilians wearing the replica of military wear.
