Kitgum Councilors Put Under Quarantine For Covid-19
Two Kitgum district councilors and a Local council III chairperson have been put under quarantine as per the Health Ministry guidelines after they allegedly came into physical contact with two Russian Nationals arrested in the district on Sunday.
They include Kenneth Nyero Nyok-Cek, the LCV Councillor of Namokora Sub County, Abraham Aturu, the Orom Sub-county LCV Councilor and Kwirino Olum, the Orom sub county LCIII chairperson.
The trio has been quarantined at St Joseph Hospital-Kitgum.
They allegedly came into physical contact with two Russian Nationals Gribov Vladislav, Kozhevin Viacheslav and their Ugandan driver, Joseph Aburek.
The Russians were apprehended for violating movement restrictions imposed by the government as part of preventive measures to curb the spread of covid-19.
The suspects who travelled from Kampala had reportedly visited Orom Sub County where they met some local leaders while exploring a new graphite site.
The Resident District Commissioner William Komakech noted that Nyok-cek, Abraham Aturu Darabin and Olum should undergo screening, testing and mandatory quarantine before they start interacting with the community.
The two Russians and a Uganda national are being held at Kitgum Central Police station.
