The Ministry of Health and the National COVID-19 Taskforce have lifted the Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown on Gulu district.
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his 22nd June televised address to the nation imposed a 14 days` lockdown on eight districts that have evidence of high community transmissions of the virus.
The Gulu district Coronavirus taskforce chairperson, Santos Okot Lapolo disclosed this morning that the lockdown has been lifted effective today according to a communication from the Health Minister Dr. Ruth Jane Aceng.
He noted that travels in and out of the district will commence but under strict adherence to the Health Ministry`s guidelines so as preventing spread of the virus.
Martin Ojara Mapenduzi, the Gulu district chairperson, welcomed the decision.
He explained that the Health Ministry had earlier said that they were tracing contacts of a man who tested positive for COVID-19 from among the community.
