Gulu University Lecturer Cautions Students, Lecturers On Sex For Marks
Prof. David Okello Owiny, the new Gulu University deputy vice chancellor has asked Gulu University students not only to use their smart phones for selfies but also to record any form of sexual harassment in a bid to reduce the vice.
According to the latest report Sex for marks, tribal sexual harassment, compliment of dress code and bad touches top Gulu university sexual harassment cases.
The findings indicate that 23% of students had experience sexual harassment where nine are male and 19 are female.
The trend of sexual harassment also indicates there is lecturers to junior lecturer’s sexual harassment, students to students and management to juniors.
However, it was noted that majority talk about it after they have left the university.
Professor Owiny also castigated some students for indecent dressing and aiding and abetting sexual harassment at the university.
Early this year, Makerere University suspended three members of its academic staff for alleged sexual harassment against female students.
Although Makerere has a “zero tolerance” policy on sexual harassment, there have been several cases of sexual harassment and sexual assaults in the past few months.
