Gulu Municipal Council stuck with 19 Former non-teaching staff of Laroo Boarding P7


Gulu Municipal Council Authorities are yet to re-deploy 19 former non teaching staff of now defunct Laroo Boarding Primary School in Gulu municipality.
The non teaching staff who include 11 cooks, 6 Bay assistants, a store assistant, a school Bursar and a stenographer are getting salary despite not working since the school closed down in 2014.
Laroo Boarding primary school that was established to rehabilitate formerly abducted children was recently handed over to Gulu School of clinical officers by Permanent Secretary Ministry of education, Dr Rose Nassaali Lukwago.
Abalo Lucy, a cook and Atingo Doreen, a Stenographer said they were recruited on Permanent basis by Gulu Municipal council and are withdrawing salary up-to-date.
Jan Lakony, the Municipal Education officer in charge of administration said they will hold a departmental meeting to discuss the way forward for the non-teaching staff but that redeployment of the teaching staff which has been dealt with was a priority to them.
