By Tolit Ivan-St Phillips Health Centre III in Bardege-Layibi division, Gulu City has secured Ultra-modern Ear Testing Equipment worth 100 million shillings.
The machines were donated by Faith Audiology and Speech Therapy (FAST) in partnership with Justice Livelihood and Health, a non-governmental organization working towards promoting health.
Isaac Ojok, an Audiologist/Speech Therapist at St Phillip Therapist while receiving the equipment said the machines will aid in examining, testing and diagnosing patients with hearing challenges.
Ojok said that they have been referring patients with hearing problems to Kampala due to lack of machine.
Jimmy Okello, the Church Engagement Officer at Justice Livelihood and Health said patients will access the services at subsidized rates of 20,000 shillings for children while adults will pay 50,000 shillings.
Statistics from St Phillips Health Centre III indicates that at least 75 children turned up the facility with severe ear problems in the last two months and 25 of them had lost their hearing.
