Gulu Chairman, Seven Others Quarantined
Martine Ojara Mapeduzi, Gulu district chairman has gone into self-quarantine alongside eight members of the Gulu district taskforce after they interfaced with a ministry of health official who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Those quarantined include journalists from two radio stations in Gulu.
According to Ojara Martin Mapenduzi who is also the chairperson resource mobilization Gulu district taskforce, one of the commissioners who was part of a team that visited the region last week to assess the COVID-19 fight tested positive after returning to Kampala.
Ojara who called for calm told Mega Fm that their samples were taken for testing in Kampala and that results are expected tomorrow.
This comes at a time when the region has reported a hike in community transmission.
Meanwhile, Gulu Regional Referral Hospital on Tuesday admitted a 19-year old woman who tested positive for COVID-19 from Elegu in Amuru where she was doing business. She was traced and found at Kabedo Opong in Bardege division, Gulu Municipality.
The new admission now brings to 65 positive active cases at Gulu Regional Referral Hospital while three patients were discharged from the hospital on Tuesday.
