Fuel tankers removed from Elegu

Over 30 Fuel tankers were last evening moved from Elegu border post in Amuru to Bibia following reports that Nimule could be attacked by the warring parties in neighboring South Sudan.
The Aswa Region police spokesman, Jimmy Patrick Okema said that the trucks were moved to Bibia primary school, which is 12kms away after intelligence reports showed that Nimule could be attacked.
He said any attack on Nimule which is near Elegu could cause danger in case of any shootings on the fuel tankers.
Meanwhile, over 700 refugees have crossed into Uganda through Elegu since Sunday and that they are being checked and registered before being taken to various refugee camps in Adjumani.
Okema said some of the refugees are using porous borders parts to enter Uganda including the river Unyama.
He accordingly called on local leaders and the community to report any new persons coming into the country to ensure that there are no wrong elements.
