Former Bishop Of Kigum Diocese Laid To Rest
President Yoweri Museveni has eulogized the fallen former Bishop of Kitgum Diocese Benjamin Ojwang as a peacemaker and a patriotic person.
In his condolence message read to mourners by the Minister of Land and Urban Development, Betty Amongin Akena on wednesday at All Saint`s Cathedral in Kitgum district, Mr Museveni said Ojwang has been an active supporter of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and a good partner of government in providing social and relief services to the disadvantage communities.
The president also contributed 20 million shilling in cash which was handed over to his widow Mrs. Margaret Ojwang by the Minister.
Former Bishop of Kitgum Diocese, Benjamin Ojwang was this afternoon laid to rest at All Saint`s Cathedral cemetery in Kitgum district.
The late Bishop died at Kiruddu General Hospital in Kampala on Monday last aged 67.
Ojwang suffered multiple sickness including diabetes, pressure, stroke and kidney problems among others.
He was the second Bishop of Kitgum diocese following his installation in 2002.
He was sent into early in 2017 after bickering with parishioners over his leadership.
On Tuesday, the Bishop of Kitgum diocese, Wilson Kitara preached unity and reconciliation.
This was after the church came under intense criticism allegedly for poor treatment of the Bishop and his subsequent forceful and dishonorable retirement.
