Five More People Test Positive to COVID-19, Cases Rise to 121

Five new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed on Sunday by the Uganda Virus Research Institute, bringing the number of confirmed cases in the country to 121.

The new cases include two Ugandan truck drivers who arrived from the Elegu border post and three Kenyan drivers who entered through Malaba border post.

The cases were part of 1,498 samples that were tested on Sunday. This brings the number of infected drivers who have tested positive to over 60 as of today.

The health ministry has in the past weeks indicated that they were facing challenges on how fast the test results of drivers are released.

However, starting next week, new testing centres will be placed at Mutukula and Malaba.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Ministry of Health spokesperson says that the new testing points will allow for quick release of results.
