FDC Officials Divided After Omoro Election Loss

The Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party in Omoro is crying foul after losing elections in the newly-created district.
The party lost the district top job to Independent candidate Peter Dougas Okello and the Woman Member of Parliament seat to NRM’s Catherine Lamwaka.
FDC had fronted Simon Toolit Akecha, the former Omoro county legislator for district chairperson and Prossy Alanyo Owiny for Woman Member of parliament in the August 29th by-elections who both lost the election.
Alanyo now says she lost the contest due to a number of reasons including irregularities in the conduct of the elections.
Alanyo says she will challenge the result after collecting evidence of irregularities.
Chagga Oyat, the FDC Secretary General in Gulu and Omoro districts, says they already have six vital clues on irregularities that marred the polls in their custody.
Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South Member of Parliament says the election was free and fair and instead blames internal party squabbles and failure by opposition parties to back a single candidate for the loss.
Patrick Okello Oryema, the Nwoya district chairperson says opposition parties should concede defeat and plan better for future elections.
