A family of four people has survived a suspected arson attack in Laroo-Boke cell Laroo-Pece division in Gulu City.
The 2:00am fire incident found the family fast asleep in their grass thatched hut.
Doreen Labeja the area Local Council One Chairperson told Mega Fm that the family managed to escape after the head of the family, Uhuru Daniel aged 40 woke up and found their house engulfed in smoke.
Labeja said that Uhuru quickly woke up his wife and two children and all managed to escape unhurt only to find a second hut containing their belongings was also on fire.
The family lost all their household belongings in the fire.
The chairperson said that locals attempted in vain to pursue the suspect who abandoned a pair of sandals at the scene.

Gulu recorded the second highest cases of arson with 46 cases.
Police in Acholi sub region recorded 252 cases of arson in 2021.
