Nwoya Family Sells Off 10 Acres Of Land To Marry Corpse
A family in Agonga B village, Koch Goma Sub County, Nwoya district has had to part with 10 acres of land to marry a corpse.
The land was sold off at 11 million shillings to compensate the family of Akello Pamela, a 24-year old woman who committed suicide on August 3, 2020 accusing her husband Akura Garlington of extra marital affairs.
In a revenge attack, Akello’s relatives torched a hut, killed five goats and six chicken from Akura’s family and later demanded for 11 million shillings, four cows and five goats as compensation,
6 million shillings, the four cows and five goats were paid with the balance set to be paid on 5th September 2020.
Anena Eveline, the councilor five for Koch Goma Sub County who mediated over the matter said the relatives of the deceased had earlier demanded that their demands be met before burial which was conducted on 4th August 2020.
