Entrepreneur-of-the-Year Awardee Targets Regional Market

Still basking in the glory of winning the 2015 Uganda Woman Entrepreneur Award, Gulu’s Florence Okot says she has her eyes set on the regional market.
Speaking in an interview with Mega Fm, Okot, the proprietor of Gulu-based Yellow Star Foods, said she is keen on penetrating the East African Community-EAC market and later the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) with her products.
Yellow Star Foods packages near ready meals like soya, soya-rice, soya-millet, roasted millet and peanut paste, among others.
The Yellow Star Foods factory has three production lines for honey, peanut butter and grain products.
It directly employs 20 people, mostly women, 10 people indirectly and engages over 3,000 farmers and suppliers.
Okot said she is sourcing for capital and new machinery to actualize her dream of exporting her products to the EAC and the rest of Africa.
