Elegu Police Constable, Immigration Officer Test Positive For Covid-19
A police officer and immigration officer at Elegu Border point in Amuru district on Monday tested positive to COVID-19.
Michael Lakony, the Amuru District chairperson said that the two officers and 32 other people who tested positive for Corona virus were transported to Kampala for treatment since Gulu regional referral hospital is full.
He said that the district task force is closely monitoring the immigration and police officers at Elegu.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases now stand at 489 after 32 people tested positive for the disease, from samples that were tested on Monday. 2,116 samples were tested on Monday, June 1.
According to results released by the health ministry this morning, 19 of the new cases are truck drivers who entered the country through the Elegu, Malaba, Busia and Mutukula border points while 13 cases were picked from people who are believed to have had contact with positive truck drivers.
