Deadly Shootings involving our men ruining our good name, says Chief of Land Forces


Maj Gen David Muhoozi, the Uganda’s Chief of Land Forces has expressed deep regret over the recent wave of deadly shootings involving UPDF army officers in the country saying it is soiling the image of the force.
Muhoozi explained that over the years, the UPDF has struggled to build a good name but it’s being ruined by the recent killings.
Addressing journalists on Wednesday at Bibia Military detach in Atiak Sub County in Amuru district, Muhoozi said the UPDF has always been known for discipline and for ideological clarity but it is unfortunate if it has started to turn it’s guns on their colleagues and even civilians.
Muhoozi revealed that as army leadership, they are under pressure to provide answers to the citizens of the country as a result of the conduct of the army officers involved.
He attributed the shootings by the army in the country to failure by the men in uniforms to adapt to peace time soldering.
He also revealed that plans underway to engage army officers who have returned from battlefields through training, to ensure that they are prepared for challenges outside hostile war environment.
