Brother Elio Croce, the fallen head of technical department at St Mary’s Hospital Lacor in Gulu and philanthropist was today laid to rest.
Elio who is also the founder of St Jude Orphanage succumbed to coronavirus on November 12, 2020 from Mulago Hospital in Kampala.
The deceased who is a member of the Comboni brothers was laid to rest near the graves of Mr/Mrs. Dr. Piero Corti, the founders of St. Mary’s Hospital Lacor.
The Archbishop of the Gulu archdiocese Archbishop Dr. John Baptist Odama eulogized the late Brother Elio Croce saying he was like Jesus Christ.
His Excellency Massimilliano Mazzanti, the Italian Ambassador to Uganda also spoke with great admiration of the late Bro Elio noting that the deceased was a great worker who hated too much talks describing talking as time detracting.
Father Kiwanuka Achilles Kasozi, the provincial superior Comboni missionary Uganda also described Brother Elio as a true example of St. Daniel Comboni who dedicated all his life to Africa.
Last week, two Comboni brothers- Benito Ricci, a former Treasurer for the Archdiocese of Gulu, and Fr. Jesus Aranda who was working in Palorinya Refugee Camp in Moyo District also succumbed to covid-19.
