Body of Former Bishop Ojwang Airlifted to Pader
The body of former Bishop of Kitgum Diocese, Benjamin Ojwang has been airlifted to Pader district.
The body left Christ Church in Gulu town this afternoon for Gulu Airport on a Uganda People`s Defense Force (UPDF) ambulance registration number H4DF 1465. It was then loaded on a UPDF helicopter.
It was escorted by Johnson Gakumba, the Bishop of Northern Uganda Diocese and Rev. Wilson Kitara, the Bishop of Kitgum diocese.
Godfrey Loum, the Vicar General of Christ Church in Gulu told mourners during a requiem mass at Christ Church that the body will be taken to the prelate`s home in Awere Sub County in Pader district.
Ojwang`s body will lay at his home in Pader where a night vigil will be held by priests and catechists.
He will be buried at All Saint`s Cathedral in Kitgum district on Thursday 21st of this year.
The late Bishop died at Kiruddu General Hospital in Kampala on Monday last aged 67.
He was the second Bishop of Kitgum diocese following his installation in 2002.
He was sent into early in 2017 after bickering with parishioners over his leadership.
Ojwang suffered multiple sickness including diabetes, pressure, stroke and kidney problems among others. He is survived by six children and a widow.
