The local residents living in Tanganyika ward in Dadamu sub county, Arua district have resisted the ultimatum given by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to relocate by June 30, 2016 to pave way for the ongoing construction to expand Arua airfield.
Sam Wanekha, the upcountry manager CAA last week wrote an email to Sam Ondoma of Alaka & Co. Advocates to inform the affected people to vacate the premises to pave way from the ongoing construction to expand the airfield.
The locals through their lawyer Sam Ondoma of Alaka & Co. Advocates have resisted relocation on grounds that CAA hasn’t completed payments to all the affected people by the airfield expansion.
A total of 275 people are affected by the expansion of Arua airfield.
Ondoma says among the people who got their payments, some complained that, their land and properties were undervalued and demanded for fresh valuation.
Government through Civil Aviation Authority last year in October declared that, the affected people will be paid 6.5billin shillings for the land they offered.
