Kitgum-Police in Kitgum district are investigating circumstances under which a 17 year old student committed suicide in Kitgum Municipality.
Aber Emma Brenda, a senior II student of Annanelia Secondary School, allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday morning by hanging. Her body was discovered at around 8am dangling on a tree, about 50 meters from their home.
Peter Oyesigye, the Kitgum District Police Commander, confirmed the incident, saying her body has been taken to Kitgum General Hospital for postmortem.
This brings to two cases of learners committing suicide in Kitgum district in a space of 12 months.
The first incident happened in January, 2022 where one, Daniel Comboni Onencan, a pupil of Lakwor Primary school, committed suicide.
According to reports, the pupil committed suicide allegedly after his father refused to buy for him scholastic requirements.

Meanwhile mental Health experts have revealed that people are using suicide as a way of protest about something they feel isn’t going well.
