Another COVID-19 Positive Truck Driver Intercepted in Atiak
Another truck driver who tested positive for Corona virus has been intercepted at Atiak town council in Amuru District on Atiak-Juba highway.
Hassan Ismail, the driver of truck registration number KAX 598R/ZD, was intercepted at around 9am on Monday.
The trucker, a Kenyan national, entered Uganda through Malaba post and was also destined for South Sudan.
The case was part of 1,498 samples that were tested on Sunday.
This brings the number of infected drivers who have tested positive to over 60 as of today.
Dr. Patrick Odong Olwede, the Amuru District Health Office–DHO, confirmed the development saying the patient was being evacuated to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital.
This brings to four the number of drivers being treated at the government health facility for Covid-19 and six intercepted in Amuru district since the outbreak.
Uganda has so far confirmed 121 cases of COVID-19, according to the Health Ministry.
