Anaka: Angry Sub County councilors lockout LC3 chairman
Angry councillors of Anaka Sub County in Nwoya district yesterday locked the L.C111 chairperson’s office accusing him of abuse of office.
The 12 councillors including the speaker Nelson Mandela Okello said they resolved to lock the chairperson’s office after waiting in vain for him to respond to their complaints.
They are accusing the chairperson of taking bribes from both parties involved in land conflicts and also under minding the area land committees and sub-county land committees.
The chairperson is also accused of giving away 70 hectors of community land to Nusaf 3 project for tree planting without approval from council approval and also making resolutions on behalf of the council.
The councillors now want the L.C V chairperson and Resident District Commissioner to intervene before the office can be reopened.
When contacted, the LC3 chairperson Anaka sub-county, Geoffrey Opobo, however, denied all the accusations adding that he has not received any complaints or petition from the councillors.
Opobo also said he was not aware of his office being locked by the councillors.
