A 28-year-old woman was on Wednesday struck dead by lightning in Amuru district.
Eveline Lanyero, a resident of Pabuga ward, Kal parish, Atiak Town Council was struck by lightning at around 4:00pm during a light drizzle.
The deceased who has left behind a six months old baby was distilling a local brew known as Arege under a mango tree when the she met her death.
Acaye John Bosco-the area L.C111 councilor Kal Parish said the incident was unfortunate and called on people to avoid being under trees when its raining saying they become susceptible to lightning.
Trees attract lightning because they are tall and usually filled with moisture, thus providing a good electrical conducting path for lightning.
