Police in Amuru District are investigating the suspected suicide of a health worker’s wife at Lumule cell in Pabbo Town Council.

36-year old Edith Ajikia was found hanging dead from a rope inside their house in the staff quarters at around 5:00am by her son who was preparing to go to school.

The 10-year old informed his father- Robert Andiko aged 40 who was still asleep.

Reports say the deceased was angry after her husband, Andiko left home at around 11:00pm on Thursday to go and watch a Europa League match between Arsenal and Sporting Lisbon, a game that Arsenal lost on penalties 4-5 after a 1-1 all draw.

Andiko reportedly returned home at 1:00am after the game and slept beside his wife only to wake up this morning to find she had ended her life.

Richard P’Okumu Kamara, the Local Council Three Chairperson Pabbo town council said the deceased’s husband has been summoned by police to record statement while the body was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem.

Efforts to reach Joseph Nsabimana, the Amuru District Police Commander were futile since he didn’t answer our repeated calls.

This now bring to 17 cases of suicide reported in Aswa River Region in a space of one month.
