HIV experts have attributed the decline in the number of Aid-related deaths in the country to improved screening and prevention programmes and better treatment of health problems caused by HIV.

An estimated 1.4 million Ugandans are living with HIV with more than 80 percent already enrolled on Antiretroviral Therapy (ARV).
New HIV infections also declined by 60 percent from 94,000 to 38,000 between 2010 and 2020.
