Agago DPC Arrested For Defying Presidential Directive On Covid-19
The Agago District Police Commander, Samson Lubega was on Sunday arrested for granting permission to a business man who recently returned from the UK to hold a party in disregard of a presidential ban on public gatherings following the outbreak of Coronavirus.
Francis Oneka who is the owner of Anex petrol station in Patongo Town Council, Agago is said to have traveled back to Uganda from UK through Dubai on March 17, 2020.
Police says that Oneka organized the party and invited over 30 people including the DPC Lubega to celebrate his being free from COVID-19.
Linos Ngompek, the Agago Resident District Commissioner who doubles as chairperson district Coronavirus Task Force said that Oneka’s home has been locked up so that all those who turned up for the party are quarantined and tested.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson confirmed that Lubega is being held in Gulu adding that he was arrested on orders of the Regional Police Commander.
