Police in Agago district on Thursday arrested a Local Councilor Five for Lapono Sub county on allegations of raping a patient.
Joel Ogal aged 49, reportedly raped a 23-year-old woman who had gone to seek for medical care at his clinic known as Gloria Medical clinic in Kalongo Main Market.
The victim who is a resident of Kabala Aleda Pabala parish in Parabongo sub county, Agago district says that she went to the clinic to seek treatment for stomach and waist pain on Wednesday where Ogal gave her a soda and three tablets to swallow before advising her to lie down and rest.
The woman says she lost consciousness and later woke up at 5:00pm to find blood on her wrapper and felt pain in her private parts only to realize she had been raped adding that Ogal had threatened to break her neck if she reported the matter anywhere.
She however walked back home and narrated the incident to her family who then reported the matter to police.
James Owili, the officer in charge of Kalongo Police Station confirmed the incident saying the suspect was being transferred to Patongo Central Police Station.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson said the case file has been sent to the Resident State Attorney for perusal before the suspect is arraigned before court and charged.
