Acana calls for a day of mourning in Acholi


Acholi paramount chief, Onen David Acana II has said a special day of mourning should be set in recognition of the impacts of the various conflicts in Acholi land.
He suggested that such a day should also be declared a public holiday especially for people in the sub-region, adding that it would be used to remember the various atrocities during the various wars.
The Paramount chief was speaking at the commemoration Day of Missing Persons at Kitgum Boma ground last week, where he was the chief guest.
The second commemorative event was organized by ICRC, Refugees Law Project and local authorities.
It was also attended by hundreds of families of missing persons.
