Kitgum District Task Force has started implementing the compulsory wearing of facemasks while in public.
Since Sunday, police in Kitgum district who are part of the taskforce have arrested at least 56 people found moving in public places without wearing facemasks.
Kitgum district resident commissioner, William Komakech who is also the Task Force chairperson says the suspects were released after acquiring one.
The 56 were arrested on charges of disobedience of lawful order and committing neglectful acts likely to spread infection of disease.
The charges carry a maximum of two and seven years imprisonment respectively.
