Police in Omoro District is holding two Local Council one officials for defying the Presidential Directives on COVID-19.
David Apire, the Local Council One Chairperson of Opwac village and his General Secretary, Justin Anyuru were arrested alongside three other men on Thursday evening after they allegedly mobilised the residents of Opwac for a political consultation meeting for unnamed politician.
The others are Ojok Akabo, Calvin Okene and Kadong Palima.
Peter Mugabi, the Omoro District Police Commander (DPC) confirmed the arrests saying the matter is under investigation.
Mugabi said there were more than 10 people gathered which contravenes the public health guidelines in the fight against Coronavirus.
He said the suspects will be charged with disobeying lawful orders and engaging in an act likely to spread an infectious disease.
